The Cleveland Guardians come into tonight’s game after winning Game 1. They struggled to get anything going early against Rays starter Drew Rasmussen. He was stifling the Guardians until the sixth inning where they got a solo homer off of him. Then in the seventh, he gave up another solo shot and was bounced from the game.
That second homer reset the game. The Guardians put up five runs in the final two innings of the game to win 7-3. All of that damage was done against a Rays’ bullpen that has been one of the stronger groups in the league. Tonight, Cleveland looks to do more damage against the team and go up 2-0.

The Tampa Bay Rays are staring down a rough start to the American League Championship Series. They’ve already lost home-field advantage and are facing one of the better pitchers in the league with Parker Messick going for Cleveland tonight. Freddy Peralta is taking the mound for Tampa.
The Rays were able to muster seven hits and three runs in Game 1, but they also left seven runners on base. They did go 2-for-4 with runners in scoring position yesterday, so the offense really doesn’t need to improve overall. They simply need to find pitching matchups that work better if they want to even the series on their way back to Cleveland.
