An associate professor at Haverford College is facing a federal cyberstalking charge after an alleged months-long online antisemitic intimidation campaign against a Jewish colleague and his family. Messages that prosecutors say the professor sent include antisemitic language and threats.

Guangtian Ha, an associate professor of religion at Haverford College, was arrested on Oct. 6. The indictment lays out a series of serious allegations. According to a federal indictment, Ha carried out the alleged intimidation campaign from Oct. 9, 2025, through May 20, 2026, using anonymous X accounts to send threatening messages and share images of his Jewish colleague’s mailbox.

Lori Lowenthal Marcus, who serves as the legal director of The Deborah Project — a legal group that previously filed a Title VI civil rights lawsuit against Haverford on behalf of Jewish students — told Fox News Digital that the messages reveal a harsh truth about anti-Zionism on campus.

“Everything that I had heard from Guangtian Ha, the accused here, had been directed at Zionists,” Lowenthal Marcus said. “What he revealed in his anonymous posts to another faculty member was 95% about hatred of Jews and death threats towards Jews and disgusting language towards Jews.”

Lowenthal Marcus said that the messages exemplify a concern that Jews at Haverford had raised, that the word “Zionist” was being used as “a code word for Jews.”

On Oct. 9, 2025, Ha allegedly used the X account “America1st33509” when replying to the victim’s X posts with an image of the victim’s own home mailbox and the eyes emoji, according to the indictment.

Then, in the winter of 2026 — the indictment states that this occurred “in or about January 2026, through in or about February 2026” — Ha allegedly used the account “America1stLM” to post several “threatening and harassing messages.” “LM” in Ha’s username likely refers to Lower Merion Township, a Jewish area in Pennsylvania near Haverford College’s campus.

Using the “America1stLM” handle, Ha allegedly sent the victim messages such as “Jew, get the f— out of my country,” “Jew pig, get the f— out of lower Merion,” “If jews are so special then. they should also be placed in special camps and receive special treatments,” and “LM jews are going to have it big time, jew. Remember this. You scums have had it too easy. Goyim are taking America back, blood-guzzling demons.”

The indictment states that the victim and his family “enacted security precautions” in response to those messages. However, this did not stop Ha’s alleged harassment. Prosecutors allege that Ha continued the harassment, mocking those security measures in a Feb. 27, 2026, post that read: “@[Victim 1] The goyim have woken up, jew. Run. Flee. Leave. Blurring your home on google map and installing a security camera next to your mailbox won’t help.”

Months later, on April 15, 2026, Ha, using the handle “Im_GoyimDL” demanded in a post that the victim, whom he referred to as a “fat jew,” leave Lower Merion Township. Approximately one minute after that post, according to the indictment, Ha wrote “@[Victim 1] Jew, watch your [Victim 1’s minor son’s true name.] There shall be a sign.”

According to the indictment, Ha sent additional messages in April and May 2026, including posts that contained the victim’s home address.

The indictment also describes messages from that period that included a pro-Nazi sign-off and a threat invoking the Holocaust.

In April 2026, Ha allegedly tagged the victim and wrote, “Nothing wrong to hate jews. We started to decline the moment we stopped hating, eradicating and expelling jews. Babylonians knew, the Romans knew, the Spaniards knew. American jews have been exposed. F— anti-Zionism. HH.” The indictment notes that “HH” is a common abbreviation for “Heil Hitler.”

The next month, Ha posted, “@[Victim 1] Eliminate the jewish cockroaches. Exterminate the jewish state. [Victim 1], you will have nowhere to go. Your family has no future in the US. Give it another 10 years, and you shall see a true holocaust.”

The threats from Ha became so serious that the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) got involved with the case. When reached for comment, the bureau referred Fox News Digital to court documents.

Ha, according to the indictment, “frequently utilized virtual private networks to obfuscate his internet protocol address and make tracing of the source of the messages more difficult.” A virtual private network, often referred to as a VPN, can help hide one’s internet protocol (IP) address, obscuring a user’s location. Despite the attempts to disguise his identity, federal authorities were able to trace the messages back to Ha.

Ha was ordered detained in federal custody pending trial following a hearing Tuesday, according to an Oct. 13 announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Haverford College declined to give further comment on the situation. However, the college’s president released a statement on the day of Ha’s arrest.

“I am deeply distressed by these allegations and want to state in the plainest of terms that any form of harassment or discrimination based on identity is unacceptable, antithetical to our values, and has no place at Haverford,” Haverford College President Wendy Raymond’s statement read.

“Professor Ha, who was on sabbatical leave and not teaching this academic year, has been placed on administrative leave and barred from campus while the criminal process moves forward,” she added.

In the statement, Raymond confirmed that a representative of Haverford College has been in contact with Ha’s alleged victims. She also thanked the FBI, Campus Safety and Haverford Township Police Department.

“I am heartbroken and furious at the possibility that an individual within our community would seek to inflict such pain on another,” Raymond wrote.

Lowenthal Marcus noted that while political speech about the Middle East is protected under academic freedom, harassment and threats cross a clear legal line.

“For some reason, everyone has been screaming about academic freedom and free speech rights and became free speech absolutists when it came to protecting the Jews. And that’s got to end,” Lowenthal Marcus told Fox News Digital.

While the federal indictment focuses on anonymous threats, Ha’s social media posts were already at the center of a federal civil rights lawsuit filed against the college. The Deborah Project cited several of Ha’s posts in a 2024 lawsuit against Haverford on behalf of Jewish students.

In one post, Ha appeared to threaten people in his “little world” — which the lawsuit contends refers to Haverford — who were silent about the situation in Gaza.

“I will forever remember who in my little world are silent on this genocide or even tacitly support it, with whatever excuse they have managed to convince themselves of, and I will never forgive them. I know their names and I know their faces. Never forgive. No reconciliation,” Ha wrote.

In another one of the public posts, Ha, an associate professor of religion, wrote, “Zionism is fundamentally a modern racist ideology that has next to nothing to do with Judaism as an ancient religion.”

“He deserves no credibility, but of course students and others who read from a professor of religion making a statement like that, they are going to give him,” Lowenthal Marcus said of Ha’s statement in which he attempted to sever Zionism from Judaism.

Lowenthal Marcus expressed hope that the indictment of Ha would force not just Haverford College, but educational institutions nationwide to recognize the dangerous reality of online antisemitic harassment.

“I hope this will be a deterrent to others who would act as he has acted, and will also be an impetus for investigators, for educational institutions and other kinds of institutions to recognize the code word ‘Zionist’ for what it is,” she told Fox News Digital.

Fox News Digital reached out to Haverford Township Police Department for comment, but did not receive an immediate response. No legal representatives for Ha have been named publicly.
