Journey drummer Deen Castronovo was taken to a hospital Thursday after suffering a medical emergency during the band’s concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The group stopped the show after just two songs as his bandmates asked fans to pray for him.

Castronovo, 62, was transported to a hospital after leaving the stage, according to video shared on X.

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed the crowd, apologizing for the interruption while urging fans to keep the drummer in their prayers.

“We’re going to see what happens as this progresses,” Cain explained. “It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re very sorry. We’re hoping it’s only a delay, but please — I’m sorry. Don’t worry. Have your prayers ready. Have your prayers ready for Deen Castronovo, everybody. Thank you.”

Guitarist Neal Schon then stepped forward to explain how the band planned to continue the concert, according to local outlet Tulsa World.

Schon said Castronovo was being taken to the hospital and confirmed the concert would continue with the band’s longtime drum technician, Steve Toomey, taking over behind the kit.

“Please give a big hand for Steve Toomey. We’ll be back in about 15 minutes. We love you all, we’re really sorry about the inconvenience,” Schon said.

The band returned to the stage after the interruption, with lead singer Arnel Pineda offering a reassuring message despite the lack of publicly confirmed details about Castronovo’s condition.

“He’s gonna be fine. Too much Gatorade,” Pineda said, according to Ultimate Classic Rock.

Schon later dedicated the performance to his bandmate and expressed hope that Castronovo would recover.
