Justin Baldoni spoke about his bond with Jane the Virgin co-star Gina Rodriguez and shared how she stood beside him during tough times.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s It Ends with Us was one of the highly anticipated films of 2024. Unfortunately, it became marred by several controversies once the cast started conducting promotional interviews. Some reports stated that the two lead actors had creative differences on the sets. The situation further escalated when the cast and Colleen Hoover, the writer of the book on which the film is based, unfollowed Baldoni on social media.
The only person who stood beside the 40-year-old actor-director was his Jane The Virgin co-star Gina Rodriguez. She lent him her support when he needed it the most. During an interaction with People, Baldoni recalled how Rodriguez’s interview came “at a very special time for me, and that meant a lot.” He said, “She really showed up for me. That was really sweet.”
The two worked together on the American telenovela Jane the Virgin from 2014 to 2019, where Baldoni played Rafael Solano, who was in an on-again/ off-again relationship with Rodriguez’s character Jane Villanueva. The 40-year-old called Rodriguez his “family” and added, “That was really sweet. She’s a sweetheart. She’s family forever.”
In the same conversation, Baldoni showed interest in working with the Not Dead Yet actress once again. He said, “I’d love to work with her. She’s so talented. I hope it’s a movie that she directs. She’s a fantastic director, so I would love to act in something that she directs.” The 40-year-old further emphasised that his co-star is as gifted behind the scenes as she is on-screen and called her a “real filmmaker”.
When asked if the cast of Jane the Virgin would ever reunite, Baldoni did not completely dismiss the idea. He said that fans could expect a reunion someday.
Previously, when Gina Rodriguez spoke with People, she raved about Baldoni and said that he has “a sweet, sweet soul.” She also called him “a sweetie pie.” “That guy is—that’s my brother forever. Forever and ever,” the Jane the Virgin actress said. Rodriguez further shared that Baldoni is “hands down” the only person she “stays in touch with the most, for sure.”
While speaking about Jane the Virgin’s reunion, the actress expressed her excitement and thoughts that resonated with her co-star Baldoni. “I want to do a reunion. I freaking loved that experience so much, and those people and that show was so cool. That show was so different. That show was just so unique,” said the actress.
Speaking of their professional fronts, Justin Baldoni was seen in It Ends With Us, where he also served as the executive producer. Gina Rodriguez was last seen in Netflix’s romcom Players.
