Netflix informed Fox News Digital on Thursday that it did not intend to reference Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination in a recent post about almost suffering “a neck injury” on its UK & Ireland X account.

On Thursday morning, the account featured images from the Netflix series “The Gentlemen,” which depicted the lead character Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, looking back at his partner and potential love interest Susie Glass, played by Kaya Scodelario, during Horniman’s wedding to another woman.

“Nearly did himself a neck injury,” the account posted.

The post was bombarded by several conservative X users, who accused Netflix of making a joke about Kirk, who was shot in the neck during a campus event at Utah Valley University exactly one year ago on Sept. 10, 2025.

“This is DISGUSTING Netflix appears to be subtly mocking Charlie Kirk’s ass*ssination on this anniversary of his death. Woke Netflix hates us. So glad I cancelled my subscription,” Libs of TikTok wrote.

IN THE YEAR SINCE WE LOST CHARLIE KIRK, THE MEDIA HAS DONE ITS BEST TO ACT ITS WORST

“This is the company financially backing Bonehead Bob Bonta and his jihad against Paramount, by the way,” former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt said.

The Federalist senior editor John Daniel Davidson commented, “One of the great advantages of our time is that, if you’re a conservative, your enemies are totally open and honest about their desire to kill you and destroy everything you love. It’s clarifying. They don’t intend to live peaceably with us. Fine. Then we won’t live peaceably.”

“Seems hard to believe this is a coincidence. Absolutely disgusting,” radio host Jason Rantz wrote.

However, in a comment to Fox News Digital, a Netflix spokesperson denied the post was supposed to be a reference to Kirk and called the comparison “ludicrous.”

“This post directly references a plot point from our UK series, ‘The Gentlemen,’ which launched its second season on September 3. Suggestions that it has any link to sensitive real world events are inaccurate and ludicrous,” the spokesperson said.

As of Thursday evening, the post was still viewable on the Netflix UK & Ireland account.

Ahead of the one-year anniversary of Kirk’s death, multiple universities drew criticism after reports of students planning “Kirkiversary” celebrations.

Though TPUSA reporter Savanah Hernandez admitted that she has more concern over her safety since Kirk’s death, she told Fox News Digital that she also feels more encouraged to keep reaching across the political aisle.

“Despite the uptick in violence and the increased threats that everybody at Turning Point USA has been experiencing after his assassination, I think we’re more emboldened than ever to continue to stay on the ground because Charlie’s entire thing was about having conversations with people to reach out to the other side,” Hernandez said.

Fox News’ Rachel del Guidice contributed to this report.
