‘Strong Knees, Strong Life’: Madhuri Dixit’s Husband Dr Shriram Nene Offers Advice To Prevent Joint Issues | Health and Fitness News

Madhuri Dixit’s husband, Dr Shriram Nene, took to his Instagram to share simple tips that can help you to take care of your knees and improve your joint health.

Dr Nene mentioned stretching regularly can help relieve discomfort.

Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit’s husband, Dr Shriram Nene, a cardiothoracic surgeon and public health advocate, is making efforts to raise awareness by sharing useful health advice on social media. Dr Nene shared six simple recommendations on Instagram to promote knee health by strengthening muscles and easing knee joint pain.

“Strong knees, strong life! But when those joints start to ache, it’s time to pay attention! Swipe for the lowdown on knee and bone care that’ll keep you moving without the creaks and cracks,” he captioned his post. “From the best exercises to the foods you need for healthy bones, we’ve got your joints covered. Don’t wait until it’s too late – start caring today for a pain-free tomorrow!” the celebrity doctor added.

Here are the six simple knee health tips shared by Dr Sriram Nene. 

Move, But Move Smart: Building and keeping strong knees require the correct form of physical exercise. The right kind of activity is necessary for strong knees. Dr Nene suggested activities include walking, swimming and cycling. “Skip heavy impact workouts like jump squats and intense runs,” he advised.

Weight Impacts Your Knees: Being overweight has a major negative impact on knee health since it puts more strain and pressure on the joints, which can result in discomfort, inflammation and osteoarthritis. One kg extra is equivalent to four kgs on your knees. Dr Nene suggested starting with your plate if you want pain-free joints. “Eat clean and move often,” he said.

Build Knee Support Muscles: To strengthen the muscles surrounding the knee, doctors might recommend stretches and exercises, which might lessen discomfort and support the knees. “Your knees aren’t alone, and they need support. Train your quads, hamstrings and calves. Do squats, leg lifts and curls 2-3 times a week,” Dr Nene suggested.

Wear The Right Shoes: Selecting the right footwear is important for preserving knee health and possibly avoiding or reducing knee discomfort. According to Dr Nene, wearing the wrong type of shoe over time can harm your knees. Select shoes with arch support, kicks and cushions, and steer clear of flats, heels and old trainers. “Your feet shape your posture and your knee health,” he said.

R.I.C.E. Method For Pain: The R.I.C.E. method, which consists of rest, ice, compression and elevation, is a popular first-aid strategy for treating soft tissue injuries, particularly knee problems. It seeks to enhance healing in the initial phases following an injury and reduce pain and swelling. “R.I.C.E. is a simple method to reduce swelling and heal quicker,” Dr Nene said.

Stretch To Stay Strong: The doctor highlighted how important it is to stretch frequently in order to preserve physical strength and flexibility, particularly as one ages. Dr Nene said that stressed knees can result from stiff muscles. Stretching for five minutes every day can help relieve discomfort and prevent it from getting worse. He has advised trying the calf, hamstring and standing squat stretches.
