According to reports, 39,699 small and medium enterprises in Tamil Nadu have created jobs for 481,807 workers, driving the state to rank first in the country with 842,720 man-days of employment
The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) growth report for 2023-24 has revealed that Tamil Nadu is the top employer in the country.
“Tamil Nadu has provided more employment opportunities through small and medium enterprises than Gujarat and Maharashtra, which have been leading in economic and industrial development for many years,” the Tamil Nadu government said in a press release.
It was reported that 39,699 small and medium enterprises in Tamil Nadu have provided employment opportunities to 481,807 workers. Consequently, Tamil Nadu has secured first place in the country overall with 842,720 man-days of employment.
“Tamil Nadu has established a new record by generating an average of 1.75 man-days of employment per worker,” the RBI report stated.
“At the same time, Maharashtra provides employment opportunities for an average of 1.13 man-days per worker, while Gujarat provides an average of 1.37,” the Tamil Nadu government highlighted in its release.
