Attorney analyzes bodycam video of Tiger Woods’ arrest

Bodycam footage of Tiger Woods’ March 27 DUI arrest in Jupiter Island, FL, shows a dazed and disoriented Woods after his rollover crash. Criminal defense attorney Donna Rotunno analyzes the video, including Woods’ claim of talking to the President, and discusses the legal hurdles for prosecutors to prove impairment, especially with no positive alcohol test.

Five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods is expected to arrive at a Florida court Wednesday for a hearing on a possible plea change in his DUI case, court records show. The case stems from a rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida, in March more than five months ago.

A photo from WPTV at the time showed what was reportedly an SUV registered to Woods lying on its driver’s side. Authorities found Woods at the crash scene in Martin County, Florida, roughly 40 miles outside West Palm Beach. An arrest affidavit said Woods did not pass a field sobriety test and had prescription painkillers in his pocket.

In the aftermath of the crash, Woods announced he would take some time away from the public eye and explore personal recovery treatment options.

Woods initially entered not guilty pleas to misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and refusing to submit to testing.

He also received a citation for careless driving and had been scheduled to make an appearance in court on Sept. 8. However, a court notice filed Tuesday moved Woods’ appearance up to Wednesday morning.

The 15-time major champion’s plea conference is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Martin County Courthouse. It remains unclear whether Woods plans to change his plea or whether his attorneys have reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Fox News Digital attempted to contact Woods’ legal team about the latest development, but did not immediately receive a response.

The rollover added to a series of crashes involving Woods and created another obstacle in his latest comeback bid after years of injuries.

Woods was seriously injured in a February 2021 single-vehicle crash outside Los Angeles. His SUV rolled several times, leaving him trapped inside the vehicle.

Emergency surgery treated “open fractures” in Woods’ lower right leg. Doctors placed a rod in his tibia and inserted screws and pins in his foot and ankle. He remains hospitalized for several weeks following the procedure.

Though Woods remains away from competition, he has continued to follow the game closely. On Sunday, he congratulated Scottie Scheffler on social media after the current world No. 1 won the Tour Championship, secured his second FedEx Cup title and passed Woods atop the PGA Tour’s career earnings list.

“Three wins, five runner-ups and finishing the season No. 1. Those are some numbers to be proud of,” Woods wrote in a post to X. “Incredible consistency all season long. Congrats on a historic season, Scottie.”
