Usha Vance opens up about Vice President JD Vance’s political future
Usha Vance joins Fox News for an exclusive interview to discuss the political future of JD Vance and a potential 2028 presidential bid. Speaking with Rachel Campos-Duffy, the second lady opens up about their family’s transition to Washington, D.C., and their shared commitment to public service in the upcoming years.

Second lady Usha Vance is keeping an “open mind and open heart” about what could come next for her family as speculation builds around Vice President JD Vance’s political future.
“Whatever it is that he feels is the right thing for him to do, we’re going to have a good time doing it,” she told Fox News’ Rachel Campos-Duffy, referring to speculation that her husband could top the GOP’s list of 2028 presidential contenders.
“We will make the best of it in the best possible way.”

The second lady has largely avoided getting ahead of her husband’s political future, telling Campos-Duffy that the family is taking things “one step at a time” as the vice president focuses on the upcoming midterm elections.
“Right now, that step is he’s really focused on the midterms,” Vance said. “And for me, it’s being focused on the things that I get to do during this four-year period…”
Still, Vance suggested the family has grown accustomed to navigating change since entering the national political spotlight.

“I’ve seen us adapt to all sorts of things and all sorts of changes,” she added.
The vice president and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have emerged as potential favorites to succeed President Donald Trump at the helm of the GOP in 2028, with various polls showing each leading the other in different surveys.
Beyond questions about 2028, Vance also offered a glimpse into the role she plays as an advisor to her husband, revealing one particularly helpful piece of political advice she has given him: Step away from social media.

“I think the best advice was to take a little bit of a social media break,” she said.
“The constant flow of stuff is just so exhausting, and… he did that for Lent, and I think it was a really enjoyable experience for him to kind of step back to get information less constantly and just get it in bursts or aggregated in different ways,” she continued.
“I personally think it helped him have some perspective about various things that he was thinking about.”
